The New York Society of Human Resources Management selects UTC RETAIL as one of the Top 50 places to work in the entire empire state.

Introduces the 3170 all-in-one touchscreeen workstation.
This hardware platform was designed as both a user friendly and environment friendly state-of-the-art POS terminal.

AMC Entertainment Inc. selects UTC RETAIL for their POS Hardware.
AMC selects UTC to provide 6000 POS terminals.  The 2100 series all-in-one POS provides AMC with the small footprint, ease of installation and fanless technology they required for their theater environement.  AMC also selects UTC for their hot swap and repair services.


2012

Introduced ReadyStore Mobile POS.
ReadyStore extends the full POS feature and function set for deployment on any iOS, Android and Windows mobile device. It will easily integrate to a retailers existing point-of-sale solution.


RIS News Software Leaderboard ranks UTC RETAIL as a Top 20 software provider.
After being named as a company to watch in 2011, UTC RETAIL is recognized as a Top 20 Software Provider to the retail market on the 2012 Software Leaderboard.


UTC RETAIL Introduces Enhanced Mobile Application for POS-J.
This next generation mobile solution supports tablet and smartphone devices that run the Android or iOS operating systems. In addition to traditional Point of Sale, line busting, item lookup (in-store and across the enterprise), receiving, and transfers, the advanced suite also supports gift registry and customer loyalty.


2011

UTC RETAIL recognized by RIS News Software Leaderboard as a leader in customer satisfaction.

Introduced new Visions Retail Analytics solution.
Visions is fully integrated with UTC RETAIL's Merchant database, allowing for real-time decision support. With Visions, retail executives have easy access to actionalibe, live, business data that can be presented in a variety of user formats.

Introduced Gift Registry application.
Gift Registry is fully integrated with UTC RETAIL's point of sale solution, as well as its handheld store mobility suite. The application is also web-enabled and has the ability to support multiple types or categories of gift registry.

Introduced 5100 Series POS hardware platform.
The 5100 Series utilizes retail hardened components and durable peripherals to ensure uninterrupted, long lasting performance. A unique modular design simplifies system maintenance and support. 

 

2010

UTC RETAIL received RIS News Software Leaderboard “Company to Watch” distinction.

Introduced the 3100 Series, a next generation All-in-One touchscreen product line. 
The 3100 Series provides efficient high end performance, superior reliability and exceptional value and is based on open architecture and embedded components protecting the retailer’s investment and ensuring a long productive life in the most demanding retail environments.

Launch of Client Advisory Board for POS-J product line, consisting of leaders from the specialty retail community and UTC software experts joined to provide product input & direction.


2009

Released new version of Merchant, its cross-channel enterprise solution.
Two significant enhancements of Merchant 5.0 include the complete integration with UTC RETAIL's POS-W point of sale module with .net architecture and the integration of SonicMQ Enterprise messaging middleware.

Released new version of POS-J, its Java-based Store Automation Solution.
POS-J 3.1 release enhancements includes security improvements, SOA and Web Service framework, labor scheduling and debit encouragement, making it a very dynamic and robust offering that provides operational and integration benefits to retailers of all sizes.

POS-J Store Automation Solution listed as Validated Payment Application, achieves PA-DSS Compliance.
The UTC RETAIL POS-J 3.1 application is approved by the PCI Security Standards Council (PCI SSC) as meeting its best practices requirements for protecting privileged card data as outlined in the Data Security Standard Version 1.2 (PCI-DSS V1.2).

Introduced the 1870 All-In-One Touchscreen POS Workstation with Intel® Mobile Technology.
The successful 1800 Series is improved with the introduction of the 1870 Series  which incorporates energy efficient Intel Celeron® M  and Pentium® M  processors as well as other performance and sustainability enhancements.

Refreshed Successful 2200 Series Distributed Point of Sale Workstation.
The 2250 and 2270 Series have been designed for serviceability and reduced maintenance costs. The virtually tool free design and key lock access to replaceable parts such as the hard drive minimize downtime and reduce service costs.

Introduced Bundled Solutions for the SMB Market.
Bundled Solutions provide the small to medium sized specialty retailer a total solution from a single source that includes UTC RETAIL software and hardware combined with deployment and maintenance services.

Introduced Service-On-Demand Customer Web Portal.
Service-On-Demand is a web based management tool providing retailers real-time, secure access to critical information regarding their in-store technology.

Ultimate Technology extends successful 2800 Series POS product line.
The popular 2800 Series product line of fully integrated POS hardware solutions is expanded with the launch of the 2850 and 2870 Series products.  Product enhancements include:   dual removable hard drive option, RAID functionality, sleeker and more compact LCD including a 17” option, and a front access USB port.

2006

Ultimate Technology ranked #1 in POS industry survey.
The inaugural RIS News Hardware Leaderboard study ranked Ultimate Technology the #1 POS Solution provider topping industry stalwarts IBM, NCR, and Fujitsu.  Results were from an independent survey conducted with 122 North American Retailers.

The 2200 Series is introduced to the market.
The 2200 Series POS system provides retailers the performance, flexibility and durability they need from their POS solution.  The modular design ensures a flexible footprint that will work with changing and inconsistent cash wraps.

Ultimate Technology entered the self-service market with launch of the KwikUse™ Kiosk.
The KwikUse™ Kiosk, a multi-use transaction based self service kiosk solution for a wide range of retailing environments, is launched.  The KwikUse is designed to help retailers reach customers throughout the retail store by providing additional touchpoints and transaction capabilities.

Ultimate Technology expands suite of life cycle service capabilities.
Ultimate Technology announces Asset Disposal Services based on a risk management model that protects a corporation’s reputation and its officers from potential environmental and legal liability. Ultimate Technology provides technology asset disposal for a wide range of product categories including:  POS equipment and peripherals; telecommunications equipment; office equipment; and hazardous electronic equipment.


2005

Ultimate Technology recognized as one of North America's largest Manufacturers of POS workstations.
Venture Development Corporation, a leading independent technology market research firm, reports that Ultimate Technology is one of the top three POS equipment manufacturers selling POS terminals and workstations in North America.

Ultimate Technology Corporation is selected for Best-In-Store Systems Award.  
Integrated Solutions for Retailers named Ultimate Technology Corporation a winner for their Small to Midsize Retail Solutions Awards. The award was based on UTC's performance at Chase-Pitkin Home and Garden, which showcases the benefits of their full solution offerings for small to midsize retailers.

New York State Awards a Grant to Ultimate Technology to Implement Lean Manufacturing.
New York State partners with UTC to implement lean manufacturing principles that result in increased operational efficiency, greater scheduling flexibility, and improved resource utilization helping UTC to manage growth.

Ultimate Technology's Services' capabilities increase with the implementation of improved circuit board repair.
New diagnostic equipment and repair processes provide the capability to repair the most sophisticated circuitry, such as Ball Grid Array (BGA) mounting technology to significantly decrease the cost of equipment repair.
 

2004

UTC is recognized for continued pace of growth.
2004 marks the third time Ultimate Technology is named to the Top 100 Fastest Growing Businesses in the greater Rochester, NY metro area.

The UltimaTouch 1800 POS Touch Workstation is announced.
The new all-in-one touchscreen product is released to the marketplace employing the latest touch technology in an open system workstation that is ideal for multiple retail point-of-service environments.


2003

The PD1200 Customer Display is introduced.
The PD1200 is the newest addition to Ultimate Technology's line of reliable, feature-rich customer displays that have set the standard in the POS industry for years.

The 2800 Series Integrated POS hardware solution is announced.
This new series of POS systems introduces a new standard of modular design and multiple configuration options to provide functionality, reliability and flexibility.  All components of the 2800 are designed to improve field service for retail environments, such as easy front access for quick on-site repair.

Ultimate Technology announces expanded service offerings.
Maintenance service options expand with on-site repair services and depot maintenance service to provide repairs from a variety of manufacturers. The expanded capabilities provide customers flexible, efficient repair and maintenance services that can be tailored to their specific requirements.


2002

Ultimate Technology becomes an active participant in the new Association for Retail Technology Standards (ARTS) Industry Standards Board.
UTC continues our long-standing commitment to support all major industry standards and provide completely open systems. UTC’s dedication to ARTS is another demonstration of our belief in true open systems and providing “best of breed” hardware and software components that require minimal interfacing.


2001

The UltimaThin and UltimaNet product families are introduced.
These new products offer server-managed POS clients running Linux and embedded operating systems. These distributed network systems provide new thin client options for retailers.


1999

The UltimaTouch 5000 Series is announced.
The UltimaTouch series provides retailers with an integrated, high performance, all-in-one touchscreen POS workstation suited for the hospitality, convenience, and specialty retail markets.


1998

The Model 40 Integrated POS system is announced.
The Model 40 is designed to meet retailer’s unique requirements, offering unmatched flexibility, reliability, and serviceability in an open-architecture POS hardware platform. UTC pioneers easy front access design in the Model 40 for improved serviceability and quicker on-site repair.


1997

Ultimate Technology’s Keyboards and Customer Displays emerge to be an industry standard in Integrated POS Systems.
Innovative design and broad acceptance leads to UTC’s versatile POS peripherals being used by retailers from home centers to convenience stores.


1996

The PDM3500 Compact POS Terminal is announced to integrate full function capability and space-saving design.
The PDM3500’s integrated keyboard and dual-sided customer display enable deployment of new applications at concession stands and convenience stores. The new terminal provides the functions retailers demand while minimizing the footprint required for valuable point-of-service space.


1994

The M500, Ultimate Technology’s first programmable POS keyboard is introduced.
This compact, fully programmable keyboard includes an integrated Magnetic Strip Reader (MSR) and quickly becomes a success with convenience store customers.


1990

The PD220 Customer Display is introduced.
This first customer display offering provides customers with an easy to read display and is available in serial, parallel and pass-through interfaces.


1989

The first series of POS terminals are introduced.
A new family of retail POS terminals, some of the first based on open system architecture, provide host-independent functionality across three different platforms.


1988

Ultimate Technology Corporation (UTC is founded).
Ultimate Technology begins operations near Rochester, NY as a manufacturer and integrator of point-of-service hardware, solutions and services.
