UTC RETAIL releases new version of Merchant, its cross-channel enterprise solution

Rochester, NY January 8, 2008 – UTC RETAIL™, a leading provider of retail management solutions announces the release of Merchant 5.0, the latest version of its successful cross-channel retail enterprise application for the specialty retail market. UTC RETAIL Merchant delivers comprehensive retail management across all channels integrating point of sale, warehouse, back office, e-commerce, merchandise and inventory management.

Two significant enhancements of Merchant 5.0 include the complete integration with UTC RETAIL's POS-W point of sale module with .net architecture and the integration of SonicMQ Enterprise messaging middleware. SonicMQ is a standards-based messaging system compliant with JMS 1.1 and boasts guaranteed real-time message delivery. Benefits to utilizing the SonicMQ messaging system include providing real-time sales and inventory information, continuous transaction processing, and more timely merchandise transfers and replenishment.

Other enhancements to the UTC RETAIL Merchant platform include the following:

• A new tax rate calculator allowing multiple tax rates on the same transaction based on ship to locations, product and ship method
• A new shipping cost calculator based on order total or total weight.


• Enhanced sales receipt options for receipt customization including gift card balance, AR balance, customer name and address, extra receipt options, Backorder summary and item notes
• A remote road show module which acts like an extension of the store and can transact sales including credit card authorization
• A new style manager to handle automated purchasing with added min / max capability
• Integration of the UTC RETAIL Gift Card application to the UTC RETAIL Loyalty / CRM product which is part of Merchant.
